Shell Pipeline Donates Product to Ducks Unlimited for Use on Louisiana Habitat Conservation Projects

Shell Pipeline Company in Houma, Louisiana, recently donated 285 feet of new stainless steel pipe valued at $8,530 to Ducks Unlimited for wetlands conservation projects in Louisiana. The pipe varies in diameter from 12 to 22 inches and will be used for water control structures placed on new or enhanced wetlands. The donated pipe is earmarked for the restoration of about 300 acres of wetlands under the Louisiana Waterfowl Project, a conservation partnership between Ducks Unlimited, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Louisiana landowners.

Ed Landgraf of Shell Pipeline Company said Ducks Unlimited has proven through new technology and old-fashioned science that degraded habitats can be returned to healthy, functioning wetlands. Shell Oil Company Foundation and Ducks Unlimited are active supporters of America's Wetland: Campaign to Save Coastal Louisiana. The Shell Oil Company Foundation is a sponsor and Ducks Unlimited a cooperating organization in the campaign.

A certificate of appreciation was presented by Ducks Unlimited to Shell Pipeline Company in recognition of its donation of steel pipe, which will be used on Louisiana wetlands conservation projects. Among those involved with this effort are (left to right) Ty Dartez, DU zone chairman; Jon Delahoussaye, DU district chairman; Bob Hill, operations manager for Shell Pipeline in New Orleans; Armand Schwing, DU regional chairman; and Ed Landgraf, environmental and community awareness coordinator for Shell Pipeline in Houma, Louisiana.
