McPherson Valley Wildlife Area
Big/Little Basin & Farland Lake
PURPOSE: To restore historic wetlands along the McPherson Valley stretching from the northwest side of the town of McPherson to Inman. The project will be accomplished by acquiring land from willing sellers and subsequently restoring hydrology to reflect the vast wetland system of the past. Pump stations will be installed to assure fall flooding. This project will also provide unique habitat for other wetland-dependant birds, amphibians and reptiles. This project will be managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to maintain high-quality habitat and hunting opportunities for migrating waterfowl.
