HORNS BLUFF REFUGE
Wetlands Enhancement
Purpose: To enhance 200 acres of waterfowl habitat on Horns
Bluff Refuge. The area was acquired by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in
1991 and 1992. Most of the property consisted of marginal farmland or abandoned
farmland converted back to bottomland-forested wetlands. Ducks Unlimited was
contracted to provide topographical surveys, wetlands design, and other engineering
services on 200 acres of moist-soil habitat. The area is managed by the Tennessee
Wildlife Resources Agency to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.
Location: The project is located on Horns Bluff Refuge in
Crockett and Gibson Counties approximately 6 miles northeast of Alamo, TN.
