BOGOTA WMA
Wetlands Enhancement
Purpose: To enhance 500 acres of moist-soil habitat and flooded
agricultural crops on Bogota WMA through construction of levees, installation
of 15 water control structures, and construction of a water distribution system.
The area previously consisted of bottomland hardwood forests, but was cleared
for agricultural production. The project will increase management capabilities
on Bogota WMA and provide foraging habitat for mallards, gadwall, pintails,
green-winged teal, and shovelers. The area is managed by the Tennessee Wildlife
Resources Agency to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.
Location: The project is located adjacent to the Obion River
in Dyer County approximately 8 miles northwest of Dyersburg, TN.
